Tana's Baby Shower

With the help of Tana's friend Jazmin, we were able to throw a "Rockin" baby shower for Tana. This was my first experience throwing a shower and I like to think it was a success. It was fun planning everything and working with Jazmin (who made it easy). Stephanie helped me with the diaper cake and favor boxes. I'm not sure that I could have done it on my own...it probably would have taken me much longer to do. (Thanks Steph)

It is finally warm here in Utah and we have been able to get out of the house and enjoy it. I took Jacie swimming for the first time yesterday at our local rec center and I'm not sure that she liked it very much. It was too close to nap time, the water might have been too cool for her, and she ended up just falling asleep which is ok with me cuz I love to cuddle with her. Our little moving company is becoming more than just little and we are so grateful for it because it gives me the opportunity to stay home with little Jacie. She is 3 months old and officially a pro at rolling from her tummy to her back. She has rolled from her back to her tummy a couple of times. Everytime she tries to roll to her tummy her little elbow gets in the way. Soon she will be rolling all over the house and I'll have to keep a close eye on her. (While writing this she rolled all the way around!) I feel very blessed to have such a fun little babe. She sleeps about 9-10 hours every night which is heaven sent for me because I have issues when I don't get my rest.

I finally was motivated by my neighbors to put up some more decoration in the baby's room. (Thanks to Shyla and Julie) Julie has been working on her soon to be bundle of joy's room and everything looked so cute with the vinyl lettering. Shyla is the expert vinyler so we put our heads together and these are the results. I couldn't be happier. I love how it turned out. We also got the dresser/changing table in so we were able to add that to the room. (I tried to lighten up the first picture so it looks a little fuzzy)

My long lost best bud, Jennifer, from high school threw a baby shower for me while we were in Texas. It was really nice to see everyone who was able to make it. Everyone really spoiled our soon to be little girl. I can't wait to dress her up in all the cute clothes we got.

Mavs vs. Clippers

We went to TX to visit my parents one more time before the baby comes. It was awesome getting to eat at all our favorite restaurants and catching up with old friends. My parents took us to the Mavs vs. Clippers game which was a lot of fun. Kemp was being a rebel and cheered for the Clippers. We had a Mavs fan , of course, sitting in front of us and they had fun picking on each other throughout the game. Mavs ended up winning though!

26 weeks

I'm starting to get a little uncomfortable, but that isn't comparable to how sick I was the 1st trimester. I'd rather feel like I do now than ever experience being on my death bed the 1st 20 weeks again. I can feel her move more, but Kemp has only felt her move once. I keep trying to hurry and grab his hand but she always stops once he has a chance to put his hand on my belly. I guess that's usually how it works. She is such a tease. It's still crazy to look at my belly in the mirror knowing that there's a little person in there. What an amazing way to bring people into this world. I just hope Kemp and I can take care of her in every good way possible.

Whitney's 24th Birthday!

Is it sad that I have already started to forget how old I am? I think for the past several months if someone asked how old I was, I would say 24....but I was 23. Now I am officially 24! I have a little girl on the way and my husband is still the love of my life. I think life has been treating me very well.

I met up with a few girl friends for a late lunch since Kemp had plans for us once he got off work. The girls and I ate at Dickey's BBQ. I grew up eating it back in TX so I'm very happy to have one open up close by. I meant to take a camera but I'm still terrible about taking pictures. I promise to be better once Miss Jacie comes.

Kemp's plans: We ate dinner at this yummy Italian restaurant called Caffe Molise in Salt Lake City. After dinner, we went to the movie theater to see if there was anything good playing and nothing good start until 9 pm so we decided to skip the movie. There's a Chocolate Factory by the theater so I got a Butterfinger covered caramel apple. MMMM. The next surprise was staying overnight at the Marriott. We have always talked about staying overnight somewhere just for fun so it was perfect.

I finally found the perfect baby bedding. I'm not a big fan of pink and haven't had any luck finding girl bedding that doesn't have pink so my mom and I were going to make it. I found some really cute fabric that's purple, turquoise, and has some green. I was getting ready to order it but I went and registered yesterday at Babies R Us and found purple, turquoise, and green bedding! I couldn't believe it! Now I won't have to stress over making the bed set. Here it is and I can't wait to get started on the room now.

4 Year Anniversary Dec. 16th

Kemp and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary a few weeks ago. I surprised him with a trip to Urban Retreat Spa that ended up taking us 2.5 hours to get to. The spa is located in Salt Lake City so it should have only taken us maybe an hour but there was an accident that caused a delay of 90 minutes. We got off of the highway in hopes that we could still make it to our appointment on time but we ended up being an hour late. Originally I had planned for us to do their couples retreat and both have a 60 minute massage. Unfortunately they had other customers who did not get held up by traffic so Kemp got the mssage and I got a facial. I was a little upset when I called the spa and had to make the changes but it was very relaxing and worth it. Kemp was in charge of the rest of the evening. We didn't have time to go change clothes since we were an hour plus behind schedule but Kemp took us to the Chef's Table for dinner. It was really yummy! Although traffic was crazy to all of our destinations, it was wonderful and we had a fun time together.

It took me a while to motivate myself to do my Christmas wooden letters but I finally got them done a day or two before Christmas. I finally found some scrapbook paper that was perfect so I could finish them.

This is the first Christmas tree Kemp and I ever had. We had it in our first appartment when we went to school in Virginia. It came in handy for our kitchen.

After spending all morning and afternoon shopping with Jeri Lin and my mom, we decorated the Christmas tree, then went out to eat at Tucanos which is a Brazilian restaurant where they keep brining around meat as long as you can manage to eat more. It's the best! There were some awesome Christmas lights set up outside of Tucanos.

It seems like it took forever for me to finally start showing. There's still some days when I wake up and it seems like my tummy barely sticks out. Kemp took this yesterday which was our 1 week mark until we find out what the little babe is. I'm about 19 weeks.

Halloween

Last year for Halloween we threw a party, but I did not have energy to do that again this year. On Friday, the Legacy Center had a huge Halloween Party for the community and I got to be a part of it since I coach cheerleading there. On the track, they set up trick-or-treating and we got to decorate a booth for the cheer program. I wish I would have taken pictures, but I have been so bad about it lately. Everyone gets all dressed up and it's a lot of fun. On Saturday, we had a few friends over to eat chili & corn bread, scones, and watch a movie. We had fun passing out candy to the trick-or-treaters. They were all so cute! Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!

Witches Night Out

Tana and I had fun preparing for a fun little girls night together. A week or so before we made our skirts and hats. Witches Night Out is located at Gardner Village. It's basically an excuse for girls to get out of the house, dress up, shop, and eat. The caramel apple was my favorite! We also had scones and caramel pop corn. Sooo yummy! I think all we had was sugar the whole time.

Kemp's Birthday

On the 8th we celebrated Kemp's 28th birthday. We had a small gathering of friends join us at our home for some delicious peanut butter and chocolate cake. After eating the boys plugged in Rock Band and we had a blast until it was time for everyone to go home. Thanks for those of you who could come! Since we've moved to Utah we've had some hard times feeling very alone. We are grateful for the friends we have made since we've moved here and for the love you have shown us.

Yet Another Craft

Kemp and I have been trying to figure out what we could use to decorate our entertainment center. We have 2 very long shelves that have been sitting pretty much empty ever since we put it together. I always get inspired when I go into my friends' homes. They are all so cute and very well put together. Something that seems to be very popular is getting wooden letters and mod podging scrapbook paper. Kemp and I thought it would be fun to do that for all the different holidays. We seriously were thinking of a holiday for each month throughout the year, but of course we figured out that was a little over kill. We will be making some for the holidays we do decorate for. First, I did our Halloween one and this is the result...it took me all day yesterday but I did it and it was fun for me.

June 5th I took the opportunity to go to a dance workshop that was taught by some amazing dancers from So You Think You Can Dance. I was sooo out of shape and sooo sore half way through the day and for the following week but it was worth it. I hadn't danced in so long and I just wanted to challenge myself to give it a try again.

Mother's & Father's Day Gift

Originally I had planned to make this for Mother's Day. Unfortunately there were a few snags that held me up for a little while so I almost got it sent to my parents in time for Father's Day. Sad huh? Anyways, Kemp helped me make these for my parents. They turned our great! It's pictures of my parents, their parents, and then my brother and me. It's supposed to be like a little family tree for my mom to display on her fire mantel.

Memorial Day Weekend

I have been terrible about taking pictures but we had an awesome long weekend for Memorial Day. Kemp and I both had work off that Monday so Brion and Danielle came down from Idaho to visit. That Saturday morning Kemp and I ran the 5K (below). Later that day Danielle and I had fun splurging. We went shopping at Ikea and it was so much fun! Monday we had a little BBQ and Tana and Paul came over. It was fun to reunite with some friends from SVU.

5K Run

As many of you know, I put myself on an 8 week challenge to be healthier and get in better shape. I was not alone in this. Julie has been a great friend and motivator. She had the guts to ask me to run a 10K with her. For those of you who know me, I am NOT a runner by any means, but I am trying to stay committed to my goals and so I said sure. After signing up for the 10K I switch to the 5K (lets be realitstic here...lol). Kemp signed up to do the 5K too. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I ran more than I ever have...but I walked some too. But now I feel like I should sign up for them more often (thanks Julie!).

Ok so back in Feb. we took a trip up to Idaho to go snowboarding with Kemp's side of the family. It was the roughest snow I've ever been on...I guess I should say ice rather than snow. We had a lot of hard falls, but it was nice to see everyone again.

Valentine's Day

Kemp went out of town this past Wednesday for work. Needless to say, I was very bored and very alone until he came home Saturday. He surprised me by coming home hours earlier than expected. We went ahead and gave each other our Vday gifts. Kemp gave me some beautiful flowers, gelato (my new favorite treat), and some Ghirardelli chocolates.
I got him some gift cards to a few different places: The Quarry (a rock climbing place in provo for us both to go to), Poison Ivy Mysteries (a place that does clue live), and Cafe El Lago (a mexican restaurant in Saratoga Springs).

Walking for MS

The National MS Society is kicking off Walk MS 2010: Salt Lake City, Presented by Questar. Kemp and I am planning to be a part of this inspiring event and I am asking you to join me in the movement to MS by making a contribution to support my effort.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to ending the unpredictability of MS. They simultaneously fund research for a cure while also helping people who currently live with MS lead more fulfilling lives. I believe in the work they do, and I invite you to see for yourself all the good they've done for the MS community. Whitney's Birthday

Ok, so my birthday was Jan 7th. I'm still trying to catch up with my posts. But I have to brag because my Kemp is such a sweetie! My birthday has always been hard because we have our anniversary Dec 16th (3 years!!!), Christmas, New Years, and then my birthday. By the times my birthday comes around we always feel like we've spent so much money...but Kemp never lets me down. We went out to eat which was all I thought we were doing. Once we were done eating we got in the car and headed...away from our house. I had no idea what he was doing. We ended up driving into a small airport...my jaw dropped and I said what are we doing here?! He said "We are going to fly". I was a little nervous being in such a small plane but the views through the valley were so pretty! I loved it! Kemp even got to fly a little (I was chicken).

Kemp and I were complete party poopers last Halloween. In our house in Texas last year, we kept our front porch light off but we had our back porch on because our dog was outside. The way the house was set up, it was easier to walk into our back door than the front. So...since that back light was on a few little kids knocked on the door. We looked at each other and said oh no...so Kemp got up really fast and started looking for something to give them. Of course we had to turn the light off after that. This year we decorated our front porch and made sure we had plenty of candy!

On the 3oth we had a few friends over and we went all out decorating and dressing up. It turned out great! We had a lot of fun!

That night that I went out with Nicky, Brion and Danielle were on their way to visit from Idaho. The next day we tried to go to the Mt. Timpanogos Cave but once we got there we realized we couldn't bring our dogs on the hike with us. And it probably would be a good idea to leave them in the car for that long. On the way up the scenery was amazing and we had a lot of fun goofing off.

That Sunday before they left we carved pumpkins for Halloween.

Witches Night Out

Nicky Hadfield text me at work on the 16th and invited me to go with her to Gardener's Village for a witches night out. Gardener's Village has a lot of different shops and every Halloween they have a girl's night. Everyone dresses up like witches and the entire place is decorated with witches. We ate delicious caramel apples and had a blast! I was very surprised because I thought Nicky had family coming too but it ended up being just us. It was exactly what I needed. Life gets busy for everyone so it was really nice to do something spontaneous again. Right after work I went and bought fabric and we threw together my skirt before we left.

One of my favorite General Conference talks this past conference was given by President Monson. He talked about different packages he had received from people all over the world. One that really touch me was a jar full of "warm fuzzies" that represented little acts of service by primary classes. (Click here to read his talk)

Since then, I've been trying to think of ways to reach out to my community and do something special. One idea was to try to get a group of people together and make blankets for a local hospital or possibly find a charity to donate to. Today I received an email with the idea to put together gift baskets and take them to a local nursing home. Kemp and I had the opportunity to visit a nursing home this past Mother's Day and give 10 women a special gift. It was an amazing experience for both of us. So as of today...I plan on getting together gift baskets to donate to an entire nursing home rather than to only 10 people. We will be doing this for Christmas!

Seven Peaks Water Park

This year for Kemp's birthday I really tried my best to surprise him. I usually have a hard time holding things back. For example, Kemp got his birthday gifts last Sunday. I just couldn't wait anymore! I don't know what my problem is. But for his real surprise, I got a few of our friends to meet us at Olive Garden. I invited Marc and Nicky to go out to eat with us (Kemp knew that much). So we headed down to Provo and once we got off the highway and headed towards Olive Garden, we had him put on a blind fold. Once we got there I made sure everyone was there at our table, went back outside and got Kemp, and guided him (still blind folded) to our table. Once we walked in there were a few people that said "oh you brought him to Chucky Cheese!" lol. It was fun of them to add a little something to throw him off. I got Kemp to the head of the table...I took off his blind fold and surprise! Everyone did such a great job getting there on time. It turned out perfect! We have been looking forward to getting a real couch for a very long time! We can finally sit on the same piece of furniture together comfortably. We saw the couch at Knight's Furniture and thought it was perfect! Once it was delivered the color looked a lot darker in our house. We were a little disappointed at first, but it blends in great with the kitchen. It took us a few times to walk into the living room and see how well it matches, but we are very happy with it now! We got a great deal on the couch and benches. I have always wanted to decorate my own home and it's only just begun!

Hike with family

My family came to visit in August and one evening we went on a hike in Provo. At the end of the hike, there was an awesome water fall. Tori got to come with us and she loved it. She was made to be outside.

Blankets...and more blankets!

I kind of went crazy making blankets for all of my friends who are having babies. It has been a lot of fun because I've been able to pick out colors that would match their personalities and customize them to the baby.

This one was made for Kristen. Her whole nursery is pink, green, and yellow. I thought it would match really well.
This one was made for Mrs. Taylor. I think this is by far my favorite because of the turquoise.

Tiffany was the lucky one. She got a burp cloth with hers. It was made from scratch....literally. I was just messing around and it probably took me longer to make the burp cloth than the blanket. I just hope it doesn't fall apart ;)
I got to give this one to Lynn last night. And she seemed to love it! yay!

I've had a blast learning how to make all these crafts since I've come to UT. People are so talented and so willing share. I love it!

Moved In

As of August 8th, we moved into our newly purchased home. We absolutely love it! The ward members have been sooo friendly! We have already had two families bring us delicious treats and another neighbor helped us hall off our backyard of weeds. We just got Internet yesterday so I'll have to add some pictures in our next post. We're putting together some before and after pictures of the backyard, so it might be a little bit until you get to see those. Here's an idea of how it looked when we moved in....no grass, dirt, weeds up to my hip, and very ugly trees. So far we have most of the weeds gone and the trees are cut down. Within a few more days we will put down top soil, hopefully. My parents visited last week and they were very helpful! Thanks to them we were able to cut down all the weeds in a day. And trust me, that was a task! Yesterday we bought a real couch! It will be delivered in about 2 weeks! No more futon...yay!

This weekend we had something friends visit, which we ALWAYS love! Danielle stayed the night as she made her drive from Texas back to Idaho. Ryan and Mylissa came to see a family member get baptized and they stayed with us a couple nights. Last night while the boys played their games we got creative and painted this master piece! Originally I had asked Mylissa to paint the middle piece. She brought it with her and Kemp & I thought she did an amazing job! We decided it would look even better to add the other two pieces. By the way we have purchased a home and the closing date is Aug 8th! We are moving in a week!!! Anyways, there's a wall in our soon to be living room that I think this would look perfect on. It matches our living room colors perfectly. I can't wait to move in and hang this on our wall. I think it might be the first thing I do :)

Kemp and I went to a concert last night at Thanksgiving Point and it was outside. It was a lot of fun! We got to hear Single File, We Shot the Moon, Parachute, and Secondhand Serenade. Single File and We Shot the Moon sound a lot alike. I really loved Parachute...I think they were my favorite. And of course Secondhand was awesome!Here's Secondhand

My parents birthdays are this weekend and so is Kemp's dad's. Kemp and I went to a yard sale which had a ton of scrap booking supplies. I had to give in and get a ton of paper! These are the cards I made for my mom, dad, and Kemp's dad. I do have to admit that Utah has brought out more of my crafty side. People are so talented here.

Friends in Town

Friends really an amazing part of life. I had forgotten how mouch fun Kemp and I had around these guys at SVU. Several of them were in town for the week and I was heart broken to see them all go. I started getting used to not having quite as many friends here in Utah. We go to work and come home. They have all reminded me what a blessing friendship is. I can't wait to see them again!

Abby and I haven't seen each other in over a year. She was one of my room mates at SVU. Her and her hubby just moved to Salt Lake City so I got to go to her baby shower. She is due any day now with a baby boy. I'm so excited for her! It's nice to have some more friends close by from SVU.

Las Vegas

We decided to go see Abell and Brit in Las Vegas over Father's Day weekend. I haven't been there before so we walked along the strip for a few hours. That wasn't even close to the best part! We went to a restaurant for lunch called the Waffle Cafe. I had my first authentic waffle turkey sandwich and waffle pizza. I know if sounds weird but it was so delicious! Unfortunately we forgot to take a picture of our meals. Of course we were pumped to see Transformers 2. We actually saw it yesterday and it was a let down for Kemp. I still enjoyed it because I tried not to expect too much since it is a sequel.

Tori's Ugly Hair Cut

Before After This must be the ugliest hair cut of all time! She looked so odd when we picked her up. Honestly, I was a little embarrassed to put this on here. She has a freakin mustache/beard! We took her to PetSmart and they said her tangles were so bad they had to cut it all off. I couldn't stand the hair on her face so I cut the beard off a few days later. This hair cut was a little over a month ago so here's an update of how she looks now: She's starting to look really cute again. Thank goodness!

Cheerleading Coach

Kemp and I got a membership at a local gym when we moved to Lehi called the Legacy Center. Everytime we go I always look at their announcement board and one day I saw a flier stating that the Legacy Center is looking for a new cheerleading coach. I was so excited about it and applied immediately. It has been one of my dreams to coach or teach children cheerleading/dance/gymnastics. They hired me immediately and I have been coaching once a week for about 3 weeks now. It has been so much fun! I love it! I've always looked up to my coaches and I hope that I can teach these girls in a way that will help them grow, just like my coaches taught me.

2 Weddings in 1 Weekend

Last weekend we went to Idaho to see Jorrell and Kevra get married in the Boise temple.
Brion, Jorrell, Ryan, and Kemp all went to high school together.

On Sunday we got to go to Chris's wedding, who happen to be another guy that went to high school with Kemp. I think it's so awesome that these guy have all kept in touch!

Mother's Day

Kemp and I had the opportunity to put together a charity for 10 women at an assisted living center. We called around and got ward members to donate at least five dollars to the gifts we took to them. They were all so cute and loved their gifts!

We got them a Satin Hands set from Mary Kay, a card from Kylie's Cards, and some flowers that my nieces helped me make.

She gave us some marriage advice which was to always talk about stuff and it just works.

This lady was so cute. I walked over and sat next to her on the fire place and she couldn't beleive that we brought this gift for her. She thought it was a joke, but she loved it!

She didn't even notice I was standing there with Kemp at first because she was very distracted by his good looks ;) Her sons happened to be in the room visitng her so we didn't get to stay long, but she was very grateful.

Bear Lake

This past weekend we went and hung out at Bear Lake with Brandt and Becki's family. One of their friends, Megan, had some condos there...it was awesome! We only stayed a night but it was great visiting them. And we got to take Tori with us. We had to sneak her into the condos but we got away with it since we were only there one night.

Girl's Weekend

Thanks to Mylissa and Danielle I didn't have to be alone this weekend while Kemp went to Idaho to finish up his tooth problems. It was so awesome to have them visit! I'm soooo grateful to have them as my friends especially since I'm still warming up to Utah. (Seriously, Danielle & Mylissa, thank you sooo much....you're friendship means a lot to me!) We had fun shopping and trying to be crafty. I got some material to start up a little baby quilt for fun. We also bought some tile at Home Depot and went to a neighbors house and got her help with some vinyl lettering. It was an awesome weekend!

Visiting Idaho

We went to visit our friends and family in Idaho. On the way there it started raining a little bit, but we saw the most amazing rainbow! I don't know if I've ever felt to close to one before and we were able to see both ends. The pictures don't do it justice but it was really neat.We got to hang out with a few of Kemp's high school friends and friends from SVU. Brion and Danielle have a cute little dog that Tori got to play with. It was very tempting to get a second dog so that Tori could have a little buddy to play with while we are at work. We'll see about that though.All of our nieces and nephews had a blast playing with Tori. Bailey and Tanner would put her on the tramp and try to help her jump. Tori was a little scared but they were having so much fun. Tori did so well with the kids and the kids were being gentle with her for the most part. They just had her running all over the house, inside and out. Tori was so tired after playing with the kids. She just flopped over after they all left. She slept the whole way back to Utah...which was about 5 hours.

Snowboarding in Brighton

My brother, Tony, came to visit us last weekend to go snowboarding. So, we invited our friends in Las Vegas to join us, Abell and Brit. We had a blast! It was the first time I've gone in about 10 years and Brit has never snowboarded. So, Brit and I were falling all over the place. We woke up really sore the next day. It's kind of a bummer that the season for skiing is pretty much over. I would love to go more often!

New Entertainment Center

We decided it was time for an upgrade in our living room. We live near an Ikea so we decided to stop by and see if we could find anything. We saw this:

It was love at first sight. We checked around at a few other places but nothing really caught our eyes like this one did. We got everything and started putting it together. It is important to know that there are three sections to this setup. There's the middle where the TV goes and two shelves on either side. We set up the middle part this past Sunday and decided that the two shelves were going to be way too much. It was going to pretty much take up our whole wall in our living room, which wouldn't look good. So, we stuck with the middle part and got this:

Maybe one day when we have a house to ourselves we can add to it because we do still love the setup with the shelves.

Our New Home

We made it to Utah on a Sunday after 3 days of driving from Texas. We have some friends in Lehi who let us stay with them a few days while we looked for a place to live (Thanks again Brandon & Kristen).

That Monday we drove around Midvale, Murray, Sandy, and Draper looking at apartments and townhomes. We thought that we found an apartment we liked in Draper, but when we came back to Brandon and Kristen's house we saw a for rent sign hanging on a house right across the street. We called and sure enough after our long search we ended up back where we started. That Wednesday we moved in! It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a little back yard with a fence. It's the perfect size for the three of us (Whit, Kemp, dog). Tori loves her little backyard. She's never had one to play in before...besides my parents'. She loves to bury her face in the snow and run crazy all over the yard.

I started work this past Monday. I still have a lot to learn but it sure beats sitting at home doing nothing. I like the new things I'm leanring there and can't wait to get to know more about the company. Kemp is still job searching but there are a few positions that look very promising. We are excited to finally be settled somewhere so nice for a little while. We have a lot more friends around us and we're glad to be around them again once again (except Marc- from Kemp).

We are Making a Move

Well, I guess it's safe to officially say that we are going to move to Utah. We have been debating over it for a while, but the time has come. We feel good about the decision and think that it's where we need to be right now it our lives. One of my girlfriends, Kirsten, helped me get a job out there working with Deseret Biologicals. They specialize in homeopathics, which has to do with developing and creating natural remedies to allergies and other things. (Correct me if I'm wrong Kristen) I'm excited to work there and try out their products and see if we can find something that will help me with my allergies to dairy. Kemp also has a job lined up, but it's not 100% yet. I'm sure the Lord will bless us and him with a job as we make our way to Utah.

When we went to visit Kemp's family in Idaho for Christmas, we had the opportunity to see one of my friends sealed in the Bountiful Temple. It was beautiful! We loved being a part of the experience! Megan and I grew up together in Texas. Sometime in high school she moved a few times, but we managed to keep in contact. She has always been one of my dearest friends and I was so happy to see her sealed in the temple to such a great guy.

Hawaii

December 3-10 we got to go to Hawaii with my parents and a few friends (Abell & Brit). We had a blast! The plane ride over took forever but it was worth it! We got there that evening on the 3rd and checked into our hotel, which was a time share we got through some friends of my parents.

On day 2 we went on a hike with my parents on the big island. This is the vehicle we rode to get to the hiking trail.

We saw lot of waterfalls, but nothing as big as we hoped. It's very dry on that half of the island (Kona)

After the hike we met up with Abell and Brit and went to Hapuna Beach and hung out there the rest of the day.

Inbetween jumping waves, Kemp and Abell made some chairs and sand castles. I know, very masculine huh?

Day 3: We went on a Glass Bottom Boat in Kona and walked around the strip.

Day 4: We drove over to the other side of the island and went on a helicopter ride and saw a little of the active volcanoes. We also went to the Volcanoes National Park.

That night we went to the Southern Most Point in the U.S. We saw a few dolphins out in the ocean and watched the sun set. It was really awesome!

Day 5: On Sunday we went to a church right next door to the Temple.

After church we sinned and went kayaking around Captain Cook's Monument.

Day 6: We took a plane over to Oahu. We started the day by going to Pearl Harbor.

Then we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Day 7: Abell and Brit were about to go to a session in the temple. It is a beautiful place! We had to catch a plane that morning to Kauai so we missed out on doing a session.

Once we flew into Kauai we made out way over to zipline through the forest.

Save Handmade Toys from CPSIA

Some of you may have already heard of the new upsetting laws passed. If not, the CPSC passed (with good intentions) the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, which is requiring costly mandatory testing on ALL handmade children's products. That means in a few months all handmade products (targeted at children 12 and under) will no longer be available. Many people will be effected by this: mom's who made beautiful hair accessories, toys, blankets, etc. Without investing thousands of dollars on tests just to prove that toys that never had a single toxic chemical in them still don't have a toxic chemical.

Here's what you can do to help:

-Find you congress person and senators and write a letter like the sample here. Particularly if they serve on the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection, or the House Committee on Small Business.

-Vote for amending the law on Change.org. With enough votes it will be presented to President Obama in January.

Please help us save our small businesses.

Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving with my whole family: mom, dad, and brother. I don't have the biggest family so we never do anything very big for Thanksgiving. This year, I wanted to do something a little different. My mom is not a cook...I think she could be but she is very simple. We have never had a real turkey for Thanksgiving. We usually just buy some sliced turkey and heat it up in the oven at home and call it done. So, I decided to go all out and get a 10 pound turkey for the 5 of us! While I was at Walmart I debated on getting a 23 pound turkey. I know...it was a little too big for just 5 people. Before I left the store I switch it out for a 10 pounder, which ended up being the perfect size. My dad looked up a recipe on the Internet and we started cooking that Sunday morning/afternoon. Everything turned out great! I should have taken a picture of the turkey, oh well. We spent the rest of the day relaxing and feeling too full to move.

New Car!

We decided it was time to get a second vehicle! It is a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. It had a little over 18,000 miles on it so it was still in great condition. We got a great deal so we just had to get it. It gets great gas mileage and now I can start job hunting. Yay!
